Understanding telemedicine

How Our Telemedicine Service Works

Telemedicine brings physiotherapy and clinical guidance to your screen through secure video appointments. Using a phone, tablet or computer, you connect with a qualified member of our team from home, work or while travelling. The session works much like an in-person visit. We listen to your concerns, ask focused questions, watch how you move within your space and discuss what matters to you. Across our five clinics in Grand Cayman, the same team-based approach guides your online care, so everything stays joined up. For most cases no referral is needed, and same-week appointments are usually available.

Getting started is straightforward. Once your appointment is booked, you receive a secure link and a few simple tips, such as finding good lighting, clearing a little floor space and wearing comfortable clothing. During the call we may guide you through gentle movements so we can assess range, control and comfort. Everything is delivered over an encrypted connection that protects your privacy. If we feel a hands-on examination would help, we will say so and arrange a visit to one of our clinics. Telemedicine is designed to complement, not replace, the care available in person.

Conditions It Helps And Suits

Telemedicine suits many situations where face-to-face contact is helpful but not essential. It works well for follow-up reviews, allowing us to check progress, adjust exercises and answer questions between in-clinic visits. Minor ailments can often be discussed and managed remotely, and prescription renewals or prescription guidance can be reviewed without a trip across the island. If you are weighing up options, a second opinion gives you considered input from our team. Travel and remote care also fit naturally here, keeping your plan on track when you are away from home or based in a quieter district.

This service is well suited to people with busy schedules, limited transport or caring responsibilities, as well as those recovering after a procedure who prefer to stay at home early on. Remote triage helps us understand your symptoms, gauge urgency and point you towards the right next step, whether that is continued online care or an in-person appointment. It is not intended for emergencies or situations that need physical examination, imaging or urgent treatment. If your needs change during a consultation, we will guide you calmly towards the most appropriate and timely option.

Assessment And Your Treatment Plan

Every plan at Rehoboth begins with a thorough assessment, and telemedicine is no different. During your first video appointment we take a careful history, explore how your symptoms began and discuss how they affect daily life, sleep and activity. We may ask you to perform specific movements so we can observe quality, range and any limitations. This builds a clear picture of what is happening and why. We also talk through your goals, whether that is returning to work, sport, gardening or simply moving with greater ease and confidence in everyday tasks.

From this assessment we prepare a written treatment plan that you can keep and refer back to. It typically outlines your main findings, agreed goals, recommended exercises and practical advice, along with clear timescales for review. Where helpful, we include guidance on activity, pacing and self-management so you feel supported between sessions. If onward steps are useful, such as direct billing with CINICO and major insurers for in-clinic follow-up, we explain how that works. The plan is shared within our team where appropriate, so anyone you see next understands your history and continues your care smoothly.

Results, Recovery And Team Care

Recovery rarely follows a straight line, and our role is to support steady, sustainable progress. Through regular follow-up care we review how you are responding, note the gains you make and adjust your programme as your symptoms settle or your goals shift. Online consultation makes these check-ins convenient, so small concerns can be addressed before they grow. We encourage honest feedback about what feels manageable, because a plan you can keep to is far more useful than one that overwhelms. Progress depends on many factors, and we will set realistic, individual expectations together rather than promising fixed outcomes.

Telemedicine is most useful as part of the wider support available across our five clinics. When hands-on treatment such as mobilisation, strengthening or detailed reassessment is needed, we can move smoothly to an in-person session and back again. Aftercare may include a maintenance routine, periodic reviews or guidance on preventing recurrence, all tailored to you. Because we work as a team, your physiotherapist, colleagues and any other clinicians involved stay informed and aligned. Whether you are at home, at work or away travelling, you remain connected to people who know your story and care about your long-term wellbeing.

Frequently asked telemedicine questions

Follow-up reviews, minor ailments, prescription guidance, second opinions, and triage to decide whether you need an in-person visit.

Yes. Consultations use a secure video connection, and your information is handled in line with our privacy policy.

We can provide prescription guidance where it is clinically appropriate. Some situations still require an in-person assessment first.

A phone, tablet or computer with a camera, plus a quiet, well-lit space where you can talk privately.

It complements it. Hands-on treatment still happens in clinic, while reviews, advice and triage can be done remotely to save you a trip.
